  • A different basket or accessory system
  • A more convenient grinder workflow
  • Easier water access
  • A better-documented repeated-drink workflow
  • Replacement parts that are easier to obtain

First check whether the real limitation is the machine, grinder, coffee preparation, water, or cleaning routine. Extra features will not solve a grind problem or inconsistent dosing unless they change that part of the workflow.

Is a built-in grinder better than a separate grinder?

Neither option is automatically better.

A built-in grinder keeps grinding and brewing in one machine and may reduce the number of separate appliances on your counter. A separate grinder gives you more freedom to choose, position, repair, or upgrade the grinder and espresso machine independently.

Compare the grinder’s adjustment range, dosing controls, cleaning access, and replacement options. Do not decide based only on the advertised number of grind settings.
